About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and develop a team of Quality Engineers
  • Build a collaborative, accountable culture and strengthen capability across the Quality Engineering cohort
  • Set and drive AP+’s Quality Engineering strategy
  • Align testing approaches and technical decisions with product objectives and business priorities
  • Oversee the design, execution and analysis of testing across levels and types
  • Review requirements and specifications to shape test coverage and prioritise risk
  • Ensure testing results are clear to delivery teams
  • Advance test automation and AI-enabled coding, refactoring and testing practices
  • Improve delivery speed and test coverage while maintaining software quality
  • Partner with engineering, product and operations teams to embed functional, non-functional and security quality practices throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Support continuous delivery
  • Evaluate and improve testing tools, frameworks and ways of working
  • Stay hands-on to support test execution across teams
  • Represent Quality Engineering with AP+ stakeholders, customers and vendors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Up to 10+ years’ experience as a Senior or Lead Quality Engineer, or in an equivalent role
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, or an alternative pathway into engineering
  • Track record of leading, coaching and developing technical teams
  • Experience allocating work effectively and building individual and team capability
  • Demonstrated end-to-end delivery experience in an agile organisation
  • Confidence providing hands-on testing support and technical guidance to engineers and squads
  • Experience shaping testing strategies and leading functional, process, acceptance and non-functional testing
  • Experience using risk-based testing approaches reflecting real operating conditions and business needs
  • Experience improving testing through automation and selecting effective methods, tools and frameworks
  • Ability to lead the use of agentic AI tools through effective prompting while maintaining code quality
  • Ability to work across engineering, product and operations
  • Ability to communicate quality risks and outcomes clearly
  • Ability to resolve delivery challenges and represent Quality Engineering to internal and external stakeholders
  • Payments or financial technology experience is advantageous but not essential
