About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build and maintain secure, scalable and resilient software solutions
Lead the design and implementation of complex software components, APIs and distributed systems
Drive technical excellence through clean architecture, secure coding standards, code reviews and continuous improvement
Optimise software delivery through CI/CD, automation, cloud-native technologies and infrastructure-as-code
Leverage AI-powered development tools for coding, testing, refactoring and documentation
Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security and Operations teams
Mentor and support engineers
Influence technical decisions, evaluate design trade-offs and shape AP+'s engineering capability

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience with software development using one or more modern programming languages, such as Java, TypeScript or C#
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Demonstrated experience building and delivering complex software solutions in a Senior Software Engineer or similar role
Experience building scalable distributed systems, APIs and cloud-native applications using modern software architecture principles
Deep understanding of secure software engineering practices, including secure coding, common OWASP security risks, and software quality
Experience using Agentic AI enabled engineering tools for software development, testing, refactoring and documentation
Strong software design capability and experience evaluating architectural trade-offs
Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams and partnering with Product, Architecture and QA stakeholders
Ability to mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practice
Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code highly regarded
Experience within payments, financial services or other highly regulated environments highly regarded but not essential
