About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate the amount of loss, and analyze legal liability
  • Handle multi-line property and casualty claims in an assigned territory, with emphasis on property claims
  • Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to become familiar with insurance coverage
  • Work toward claim resolution
  • Attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary
  • Ensure claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner
  • Conduct investigations by phone, mail, and on-site visits
  • Provide service to agents, insureds, and others throughout the claim lifecycle
  • Work under general supervision

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience handling property and casualty claims
  • Minimum of 3 years handling multi-line property and casualty claims with an emphasis on property claims
  • Field claims handling experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Xactimate software preferred but not required
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to resolve complex issues
  • Ability to organize and interpret data
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Ability to effectively deal with a diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to accurately handle mathematical problems, including geometry (area and volume) and financial areas such as sums, unit costs, and personal and business finance documents
  • Ability to drive an automobile
  • Valid driver license and driving record consistent with the Company’s underwriting guidelines
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
