About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Architect, design, and develop scalable, reliable, and performant data platforms and solutions
- Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines and ETL processes
- Drive strategy and implementation for data warehousing, data lakes, and data governance
- Define data strategies and leverage current data handling and analytics technologies
- Ensure adherence to Master Data and Data Quality best practices
- Oversee data models and designs for Microsoft BI, Tableau, Qlik, and SAP reporting solutions
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to prepare and model application data for analytical needs
- Research, recommend, and integrate new data technologies and tools
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data solutions with company needs and architectural best practices
- Mentor junior data engineers and architects
- Advocate for cloud technology best practices and optimize AWS and Azure environments
- Design data solution components including models, technical documentation, data diagrams, and data dictionaries
- Lead domain-specific analytics data solutions
- Develop standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and practices
- Work with product owners, business stakeholders, and management
- Optimize data architecture for data warehouse consumption, utilization, and analytics
- Analyze data patterns and optimize data processing
- Recommend technology, process, and architecture improvements
- Prototype rapidly while following disciplined software development processes
- Communicate trends related to data technologies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, or a related field
- 15+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, database design, data engineering, data pipelines, ETL, business analytics, data science, software development, or distributed data systems
- At least 3 years in a leadership or principal architect role
- Strong technical knowledge of data integration, migration, management, analytics, and reporting solutions
- Experience implementing machine learning techniques
- Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, C#, Spark, and/or Scala
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft OneLake/Fabric, AWS, and/or GCP
- Experience with ETL, data integration, and streaming tools including Matillion, Fivetran, SAP BODS, Snowpipe, Informatica, Talend, Kafka, and Spark
- Deep experience with AWS, APIs, accelerators, and DevSecOps
- Experience with enterprise data catalog tools such as Collibra and Alation
- Expert knowledge of Power BI; proficiency in DAX, M, and SQL
- Experience with Python ML libraries and open-source ML stacks including Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, NLTK, TensorFlow, and Keras
- Experience in data governance, data security, data mesh, fabric, lakehouse, and data compliance
- Relevant certifications in AWS, Azure, and enterprise architecture are required or relevant; examples include AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, Azure Fundamentals, Azure Data Fundamentals, and TOGAF
- Knowledge of data modeling, database design, ETL processes, statistical techniques, machine learning frameworks, libraries, and data science platforms
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing client needs
- Prior experience in life sciences or supply chain domain is a plus
