About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Sell Avantor products and/or services to assigned clients and identify new and potential customers
  • Negotiate, sell, install or deliver products/services, and provide post-sale services
  • Secure and maintain product/service distribution and effective agreements
  • Provide Avantor solutions across assigned market segments
  • Manage a territory consisting of many customers across various markets
  • Prospect and establish new customers by managing a sales pipeline and developing and delivering proposals
  • Illustrate Avantor’s value proposition to prospects and customers
  • Sell consultatively, detail products, determine customer needs and requirements, and recommend solutions
  • Develop strategic territory business plans with sales management to achieve growth and quota attainment
  • Provide proposals and implement sales strategies with the sales management team
  • Build and sustain customer relationships and ensure satisfaction and loyalty
  • Manage Avantor’s product portfolio and implement company sales and marketing strategies
  • Expand Avantor’s role with existing customers through retention strategies
  • Leverage resources to implement marketing plans, strategies, and sales processes
  • Represent and develop relationships with manufacturers
  • Work with local manufacturer representatives to improve product knowledge, obtain favored pricing, and improve account profitability
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College degree or equivalent/applicable experience
  • 3–5 years of experience working in a complex sales environment
  • Proven track record of verifiable sales success driving growth with a consultative, strategic selling approach
  • Business-to-business sales experience
  • Distribution experience preferred
  • Scientific background and/or experience in a laboratory or research environment preferred
  • Capability to utilize selling processes and technology platforms including SAP C4C and Qliksense
  • Science or manufacturing research background preferred
  • Excellent communication and team interaction skills
  • Ability to carry on a business conversation with business owners and decision makers
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and interactions
  • Ability to work independently and manage time and territory successfully
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to sell strategically within an account
  • Ability to understand individual customer operations
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations
  • Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations a minimum of 4 days a week
  • Must reside in close proximity to Indianapolis, Indiana
