About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage all sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory
- Develop and implement an Operating Plan to expand customer sales
- Work with sales and support teams to achieve customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals
- Provide VWR solutions to customers across Pharmaceutical/Biotech/Industrial, Education & Medical Research, or Healthcare & Government segments
- Manage a territory consisting of many customers across various markets
- Prospect and establish new customers by managing a sales pipeline and developing and delivering proposals
- Sell consultatively, detail products, determine customer needs, and recommend solutions
- Develop strategic territory business plans with sales management for sales growth and quota attainment
- Implement sales strategies and proposals with the sales management team
- Build and sustain customer relationships and ensure satisfaction and loyalty
- Manage VWR's product portfolio and execute company sales and marketing strategies
- Expand VWR's role with existing customers through retention strategies
- Leverage resources to implement the company marketing plan, strategies, and sales processes
- Represent and develop relationships with manufacturers
- Work with local manufacturer representatives to improve product knowledge, pricing, and account profitability
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work from a home office with extensive regional travel and presence on campuses 4-5 times per week
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred in a complex sales environment
- Proven track record of verifiable sales success driving growth with a consultative, strategic selling approach
- Business-to-business sales experience
- Distribution experience preferred
- Scientific background and/or experience in a laboratory or research environment preferred
- Capability to utilize selling processes such as SPIN, Challenger, and Miller Heiman
- Experience with Salesforce.com and Clikview
- Valid Driver's License
- Willingness to travel to customer locations minimum 5 days a week
- Excellent communication and team interaction skills
- Ability to carry on a business conversation with business owners and decision makers
- Ability to handle difficult situations and interactions
- Ability to work independently and successfully manage time and territory
- Microsoft Office knowledge
