About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain relationships with accounts by visiting customer sites within the assigned territory
- Sell products and services and act as the post-sale point of contact
- Focus on customer satisfaction, retention, and business growth
- Engage with customers by phone, chat, email, video conferencing, and face-to-face meetings
- Respond to client inquiries and advise on appropriate products and services
- Execute sales strategy and generate sales reports
- Identify opportunities to increase sales volume while meeting service levels
- Manage and grow a territory across Northern England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland
- Build relationships with decision-makers and laboratory stakeholders
- Achieve revenue and margin targets
- Identify new business opportunities and expand existing customer relationships
- Promote Avantor's chemical portfolio, including reagents and laboratory chemicals
- Collaborate with Account Managers, Product Specialists, Technical Teams, and Supplier Partners
- Maintain customer information, sales activity, and pipeline data using CRM tools
- Develop strategic account plans and forecast territory performance
- Conduct customer visits, presentations, and product discussions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a B2B sales environment
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth
- Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders
- Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a large geographical territory
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively
- Scientific background or experience in laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotech, research, or industrial environments preferred
- Knowledge of laboratory chemicals, reagents, and related solutions preferred
- Experience within a distribution, life sciences, or laboratory supplies environment preferred
- Familiarity with CRM systems and sales planning tools preferred
