About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in leading strategic product marketing, including market views, segmentation, and multigenerational product planning
  • Define product platforms and positioning for Avient products
  • Deliver profitable growth, gross margin targets, margin expansion, vitality index growth, and new product launches
  • Monitor sales campaigns, advertising programs, technical literature, sales performance, product margins, and profitability
  • Review product prices, approve price deviations, discontinue unprofitable products, and implement price increases
  • Oversee development and introduction of new products with Sales, Research, Manufacturing, and Distribution
  • Develop technical literature, advertising campaigns, product definitions, specifications, and performance standards
  • Coordinate product promotion, technical presentations, and advertising
  • Provide ongoing technical support, training, and problem-solving for customers and Avient sales personnel
  • Develop contacts with major customers and suppliers
  • Work with Environmental Health & Safety to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate with production to ensure product availability meets customer needs
  • Attend trade and organization functions to develop business contacts and gather market information
  • Support Avient's LSS improvement process and the POL process
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing direction for product platforms
  • Create customer-focused value propositions and ensure product quality and consistency
  • Manage gross margin for assigned product lines and support market expansion
  • Translate customer and market trends, feedback, and opportunities into technology focus
  • Track market size, market share, and ROI
  • Serve as an individual contributor with no budget responsibility and business-unit-specific sales revenue scope

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Typically 1–5+ years of experience in product management, technical sales, marketing, customer support, or a related role, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of assigned products, applications, markets, and customer requirements
  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert and provide product guidance and technical support
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to evaluate customer needs, product performance, market information, and business opportunities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects independently while meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Technical, and Customer Service teams
