About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support ABI Value Proposition through excellent customer and stakeholder communication on claim matters
- Provide superior customer service to clients and partners
- Investigate, evaluate, and settle Auto BI and Commercial General Liability Casualty claims
- Handle files in pre-litigation, litigation, and out-of-province claims
- Partner with defense counsel on litigation strategies and timely, efficient resolution
- Deal directly with key clients and brokers on claim-related issues
- Interpret and confirm insurance coverage using relevant case law and policy wordings
- Set file reserves accurately and promptly according to company protocols
- Control expenses through proactive claims handling
- Review and analyze Third Party Adjuster and external reports
- Provide instructions to vendors and TPAs and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain technical and strategic understanding of claims files
- Improve customer experience, claims handling processes, and financial outcomes
- Maintain accurate financial information in Aviva systems
- Understand insureds’ businesses and business models
- Identify and report suspected fraud or financial irregularities
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years previous claims experience
- 2+ years of Commercial Claims experience
- Strong knowledge of Casualty/Personal Lines
- CIP Industry designation preferred
- University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Casualty technical work experience
- Technical competence in Commercial insurance
- Demonstrated experience interacting with clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload and prioritize competing demands
- Collaborative team player with commitment to supporting colleagues and achieving shared goals
- Atlantic adjuster licensing or ability to obtain the same considered an asset
