About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the GCS Value Proposition through customer and stakeholder communication on claim matters
- Provide superior customer service to clients and partners
- Investigate, evaluate, and settle Auto BI, Commercial General Liability Casualty, and potentially PD liability, E&O, and US claims
- Handle varied pending files, including pre-litigation, litigation, and out-of-province claims
- Partner with defence counsel on litigation strategies and timely resolution
- Deal directly with key clients and brokers on claim-related issues
- Interpret and confirm insurance coverage using case law and policy wordings
- Set file reserves accurately and promptly according to company protocols
- Control expenses through proactive handling techniques
- Review and analyze Third Party Adjuster and other external reports
- Provide instructions to vendors and TPAs and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
- Apply claims expertise and technical strategic direction to files
- Identify ways to improve customer service, claims handling processes, and financial outcomes
- Maintain accurate financial information in Aviva systems
- Understand insured businesses and business models
- Identify and report suspected fraud or financial irregularities
- Monitor financial elements of the claims function to support business performance
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years previous claims experience
- 5+ years of Commercial Claims experience
- Strong knowledge of Casualty/Personal Lines
- Exposure to US claims, E&O, and PD liability claims is an asset
- CIP or FCIP Industry designation preferred
- University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Casualty technical work experience
- Client interaction experience
- Technical competence in Commercial insurance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ClaimCenter
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
