About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Greet patients and respond to inquiries by phone
  • Review and manage recall appointments and no-show/cancellation reports
  • Route calls and answering-service messages to appropriate personnel
  • Register new and existing patients and activate patient files
  • Collect and record copayments
  • Provide financial support regarding claims and billing inquiries
  • Verify insurance eligibility and communicate benefit limitations
  • Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits
  • Document patient encounters accurately and in detail
  • Support patients and medical staff as needed
  • Collaborate with clinical colleagues, management, and staff to ensure efficient practice operations
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, HIPAA, OSHA, and practice policies
  • Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives
  • Uphold the organization's mission, values, ethical standards, and professionalism
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of customer service experience
  • Call Center experience preferred, but not required
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Office, Word, Excel, email and internet research
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and Insurance Payors
  • Medical Receptionist/PSR experience preferred
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred, but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle high call volume and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients
  • Time management and task prioritization skills
  • Professionalism, collaboration, attention to detail, self-motivation, and productivity in a remote capacity
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and conditions
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
