About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide legal counsel on commercial real estate lending transactions, with a focus on multifamily agency finance
  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to transaction teams and internal partners across loan origination, servicing, and asset management matters
  • Advise on commercial real estate financing transactions secured by multifamily properties, emphasizing lender-side representation
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial real estate loan, servicing, and related transaction documents
  • Counsel on title insurance, surveys, zoning, environmental matters, flood and casualty/liability insurance, post-closing covenants, and reporting requirements
  • Support multifamily agency finance matters involving Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA/HUD programs
  • Advise on GSE/FHA program requirements, Freddie Mac securitizations, sub-servicing obligations, and regulatory developments
  • Collaborate with business, Risk, Compliance, Operations, internal counsel, and outside counsel on transactions, policies, and process improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of legal experience
  • Experience representing lenders in commercial real estate financing transactions secured by multifamily properties; borrower-side experience is also valuable, though lender-side experience is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial real estate loan documentation, title insurance, surveys, zoning, environmental concerns, insurance, post-closing covenants, and reporting
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, technology, and problem-solving skills
  • Juris Doctor degree or equivalent
  • Licensed to practice law in an applicable jurisdiction
  • Preferred: 5+ years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience with multifamily agency finance transactions, particularly Fannie Mae DUS and/or Freddie Mac Optigo lenders
  • Preferred: Experience representing an agency seller/servicer across loan origination, servicing, and asset management matters
  • Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a background check, proof of identity, and necessary legal authorization to work
