About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle assigned reinsurance claims under the guidance of senior claims professionals and according to guidelines, delegated authorities, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements
- Review claim notifications, loss advices, bordereaux, and supporting documentation
- Assist in evaluating coverage, liability, financial exposure, and reporting requirements
- Maintain accurate claim files, records, and documentation in SICS, the Reinsurance Desktop (RDT), and related claims platforms
- Establish and monitor claim reserves and escalate significant issues and developing trends
- Monitor claim developments, large losses, coverage concerns, loss trends, and emerging issues
- Communicate with brokers, cedants, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders about claim activity and status
- Support claims audits, file reviews, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities
- Assist with management reporting, claims analytics, portfolio reviews, and data validation
- Build relationships with Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams
- Support operational improvements in claims handling efficiency, reporting quality, and data integrity
- Prepare and maintain training materials, desk guides, process documentation, and knowledge-sharing resources
- Develop knowledge of reinsurance contract structures, claims processes, and industry practices
- Support reporting tools, data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies
- Represent AXIS Re Claims in cross-functional initiatives and global casualty working groups
- Collaborate across global teams and share knowledge and best practices
- Identify and support operational and digital reinsurance claims team improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree or equivalent professional experience
- Up to three years of experience in insurance, reinsurance, financial services, legal services, accounting, or another analytical business environment
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn and apply technical insurance and reinsurance concepts
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, professionalism, and service
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong commitment to integrity, governance awareness, and regulatory discipline
- Basic understanding of reinsurance contract structures, coverage interpretation, aggregation, and attachment issues
- Internship or early-career experience in insurance, reinsurance, banking, finance, legal services, or risk management
- Exposure to claims handling, contract review, accounting, regulatory compliance, or data analysis
- Familiarity with Power BI, Excel analytics, or other reporting tools
- Interest in insurance and reinsurance markets and industry trends
- Interest in automation, artificial intelligence, and process improvement
- Experience working in a global or multicultural business environment
- Multiple language skills, especially English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish
- Experience managing international claims or working across multiple jurisdictions
- Interest in or knowledge of market developments and emerging risks in reinsurance
