About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle highly complex commercial excess casualty claims
- Verify coverage, conduct investigations, develop resolutions, and authorize disbursements within authority limits
- Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders, brokers, and insureds
- Process, analyze, investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims for accurate settlements
- Assess claims to determine coverage, liability, and settlement value
- Analyze coverage and draft coverage correspondence
- Participate in mediations and attend trials as required
- Lead initiatives to improve claims processing efficiency and accuracy
- Collaborate with legal and investigative teams on complex or contentious claims
- Provide expert opinions on claims handling best practices during cross-functional meetings
- Manage costs with Litigation Management and Vendor Management teams
- Participate in professional associations to stay current on claims management changes
- Communicate with senior executives, brokers, reinsurers, actuaries, underwriters, insureds, and auditors
- Mentor claims professionals and support their skill development and career progression
Requirements
What you’ll need- Recognized as a subject matter expert in claims within the area of specialization
- Ability to network effectively and leverage professional associations for knowledge enhancement
- Capability to lead process enhancement initiatives within a claims environment
- Skills to provide expert opinions and insights during cross-functional discussions
- Ability to create and direct the development of training materials relevant to claims processing
- Commitment to continuous professional development in claims management
- Ability to critically review and update claims procedures to maintain regulatory compliance
- Ability to mentor peers and foster professional growth within the claims discipline
- Adhere to AXIS licensing requirements
- Must work in the office 3 days per week
