Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own growth of the geospatial division and represent Ayoroa Simmons in the market
  • Own business development and market-facing decisions alongside the CEO
  • Make bid and no-bid recommendations and remain accountable for resulting win rates
  • Set pricing posture and win themes and own the gap between committed pricing and delivered margin
  • Recommend teaming structures, including prime, subcontract, or pass decisions
  • Recommend markets, contract vehicles, and client segments to pursue or decline
  • Originate opportunities before public solicitation
  • Build relationships with facilities leadership, capital program managers, and contracting officers
  • Convert qualified pipeline into awards and new-account revenue
  • Secure teaming partners and prime relationships
  • Serve as a public face at conferences, associations, and client forums
  • Build firm visibility through presentations, published work, and association involvement
  • Maintain technology partner and manufacturer channel relationships
  • Engage clients on scope, accuracy requirements, deliverable standards, and methodology as a licensed professional
  • Serve in responsible charge for survey work in jurisdictions where licensed
  • Partner with the operations lead to align market commitments with delivery
  • Expand the practice into GIS and geospatial analytics and new geographies
  • Lead the division from day one while working directly with the CEO and co-principals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure, or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure with survey practice, in at least one Mid-Atlantic jurisdiction
  • Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, geography, architecture, construction management, or a related technical field
  • Working command of survey, geomatics, and reality capture methods, including accuracy, control, registration, and deliverable standards
  • Demonstrated ability to build and hold client relationships at the decision-making level
  • Direct involvement in business development, including pursuits helped originate, shape, or win
  • Clear ambition to make business development the center of the role
  • Comfort representing a firm publicly through client presentations, conference participation, or association involvement
  • Sound commercial judgment and ability to explain pursuit decisions and lessons learned
  • Willingness to travel across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, with periodic national travel and travel to the Caribbean
  • Eligibility to obtain and hold a United States government security clearance
  • Virginia licensure, or eligibility to obtain it by comity, strengthens candidacy
  • Public-sector and federal contracting experience strengthen candidacy
  • Experience with SF 330 submissions, IDIQ and MATOC vehicles, GSA Schedules, or small business programs strengthens candidacy
  • State DOT or local government contracting experience strengthens candidacy
  • Record of carrying a business development target strengthens candidacy
  • BIM and VDC experience, including Scan-to-BIM workflows and Revit or Autodesk Construction Cloud environments, strengthens candidacy
  • GIS and geospatial analytics experience, including the Esri platform, strengthens candidacy
  • Dimensional metrology or industrial measurement experience strengthens candidacy
  • Experience with Leica, Trimble, FARO, or NavVis platforms strengthens candidacy
  • An active security clearance strengthens candidacy
  • Spanish language capability strengthens candidacy
  • Association leadership in SAME, NSPS, a state surveying society, ASPRS, or a comparable organization strengthens candidacy
