About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and communicate the long-term technical vision and strategy for Legal systems technology
  • Develop a prioritized roadmap aligned with departmental business goals
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize initiatives
  • Lead the Legal systems product squad and oversee application lifecycle activities, including software acquisition, deployment, administration, configuration, testing, production support, and process management
  • Drive applications toward a digital-first mindset, including adoption of AI, Digital Thread, visualization, and analytics
  • Maintain the application portfolio to regulatory, compliance, and policy standards, including DFARs and CMMC requirements
  • Provide quality assurance through business architecture, requirements analysis, and user acceptance testing
  • Serve as final authority on whether new Legal-system features or updates meet business needs
  • Build and maintain partnerships with systems integrators and software providers
  • Drive continuous improvement across service operations, service health, KPIs, SLAs, and user experience
  • Act as primary escalation point for critical service failures; restore service, contain incidents, and perform root cause analysis
  • Lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority in a matrixed environment
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to senior executives and stakeholders
  • Develop talent and build teams through coaching, performance management, and skill development
  • Partner with cybersecurity, architecture, and data teams on compliance, integration quality, and enterprise alignment
  • Collaborate with software development, program management, and technical engineering teams on enterprise technology initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in IT, including roles in service ownership, application management, enterprise systems, or similar leadership positions
  • Hands-on experience supporting legal applications or similar systems
  • Demonstrated ability to execute technology plans and support legal operations
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including communication, facilitation, and negotiation
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical strategies and actionable roadmaps
  • Proven ability to influence across matrixed organizations and build trusted partnerships
  • Strong experience with service ownership, enterprise system sustainment, and vendor management
  • Analytical mindset with ability to balance long-term strategy and short-term operational needs
  • Practical decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices, program management, and technical engineering environments
