About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage third-shift production operations
  • Ensure compliance with the production schedule
  • Determine efficient use of personnel, equipment, and supplies
  • Review production reports
  • Monitor production operations and take corrective action when deviations occur
  • Report problems and corrective actions to operations staff
  • Observe production processes for compliance with written SOPs
  • Prepare shift reports and communicate shift activities to the Production Manager and Plant Manager daily
  • Audit personnel for compliance with policies and procedures
  • Plan staffing requirements with the Production Manager, Plant Manager, and Production Scheduler
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records
  • Promote team-based decision making
  • Maintain supply inventory and inform Purchasing when supplies are needed
  • Inform the Maintenance Manager when major equipment repairs or supplies are needed
  • Prepare and submit work orders and follow up on their status
  • Participate in team meetings and training programs
  • Provide coaching and advisory support to team meetings
  • Set quarterly goals and objectives with the Production Manager
  • Pursue personal improvement and relevant educational enrichment
  • Use time management tools to monitor daily activities
  • Meet with Management Staff regarding work, company objectives, and production performance
  • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school education required
  • Strong math skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Verbal and oral communication skills
  • Some college coursework preferable
  • Three to five years of supervisory or group leader experience in a food plant environment required
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to work independently, organize tasks, and manage workload
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to perform extensive walking while on the job
  • Ability to work in noisy, wet, slippery, and hot plant conditions
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and motivate people
  • General knowledge and understanding of Balchem Corporation production processes
  • Knowledge of production schedules, SOPs, GMP, regulatory laws, EHS, FDA standards, and company policies and procedures
