About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process
- Document all components of pharmaceutical care delivered to patients
- Oversee pharmacy technicians and interns, coordinate workflow, and approve medications before dispensing
- Assess patient data and provide age-appropriate pharmaceutical care
- Process medication orders and evaluate appropriateness and completeness using patient data
- Assess medication regimens and formulate recommendations for safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness
- Contact prescribers with improvement suggestions and resolve medication-order problems
- Serve as a resource for patients and the healthcare team and provide medication information
- Comply with Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group directives
- Document patient-care activities in electronic medical records and other databases
- Pursue professional development using BPS educational resources and assist with staff training and onboarding
- Prepare and dispense sterile and non-sterile compounded medications accurately and timely
- Coordinate medication preparation and distribution
- Oversee pharmacy day-to-day operations, including technology, inventory management, and record keeping
- Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians, interns, and students
Requirements
What you’ll need- Unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice
- Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Banner Registry and Travel positions require a current and unrestricted Pharmacist license (not intern) at the time of hire
- Minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Experience working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a pharmacist in the specialty area
- Good organizational, problem solving, and computer skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use reference tools to evaluate patient care and answer customer questions
- Knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications, and Automated dispensing system
- May be required to possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy
- Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen, and background check is required
- If not licensed in the state of practice, must complete the Board of Pharmacy application process within 30 days of job offer and become licensed within 90 days of hire unless delayed by the State Board of Pharmacy
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card requirements apply to employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital
- State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card requirements apply to employees working at Banner MD Anderson on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus
