About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work as a member of the food service team in cleaning, food preparation, patient trayline or retail café assignments
Set up workstations and prepare assigned foods and nourishments in correct quantities according to procedures, portion controls and food quality standards
Maintain food presentation standards
Clean and sanitize dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses, cooking utensils, designated equipment and kitchen areas
Dispose of waste materials and monitor dish machine temperature
Maintain food and supply par levels, order or restock items, rotate food stocks and check expiration dates
Check and record food and equipment temperatures and report discrepancies to the supervisor
Deliver meals, nourishments, late trays and/or tube feedings to units and return excess nourishments as requested
Assist in catering or special event service
Handle cash register and/or café transactions when applicable
Interact with food service personnel, hospital staff, patients and families
Follow routines and instructions, work quickly and correctly, provide customer service and maintain sanitation standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

Ability to learn and follow established policy and procedures
Ability to read and understand written and verbal instruction
Ability to communicate effectively and provide customer service
Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required
POS (cash register) when applicable
For Banner Staffing Services (BSS) team members, the food handlers' card is required within 30 days of hire; for BSS team members in Tucson and Colorado, the food handlers' card is not required
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility, Olive Branch Senior Center or the Whole Health Clinic must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of employment
Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen and background check is required
Additional related education and/or experience preferred
