About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the first point of contact for patients accessing medical treatment
- Perform in-person patient intake and registration
- Verify patient demographics and accurately enter information into the EHR
- Document accounts thoroughly to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials and penalties
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements
- Submit timely payer notifications using various systems
- Obtain required compliance information, consents, and insurance documentation
- Complete hospital-based CMS compliance forms
- Generate patient estimates for services rendered
- Provide financial counseling and discuss patient financial liability
- Collect patient liability and assist with credit applications, payment plans, and financial assistance applications
- Deliver positive patient experiences and resolve customer issues
- Provide patient and financial services tasks, including transporting patients, training new hires, recapping/posting daily deposits, and other team assignments
- Work in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment while prioritizing patient care
- Train at Banner University Cancer Center until the Scottsdale facility opens
- Work between Phoenix and Sun City locations until the Scottsdale Clinic opens
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED required
- Customer service skills or knowledge of patient financial services, financial/collecting services, or insurance industry processes normally acquired through one or more years of work experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of common office software, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
- Typing ability
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit required only for specified behavioral health clinical settings serving children
- Associate’s degree preferred
- CRCR certification preferred
- CHAA certification preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology or healthcare systems preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
