About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform comprehensive wound assessments for oncology patients
- Develop individualized treatment and patient care plans
- Provide expert ostomy care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and staff
- Monitor and document wound healing progress
- Implement evidence-based interventions
- Educate patients, caregivers, and staff on wound and ostomy management
- Provide specialty-focused nursing consultation on complex patient cases
- Evaluate patient needs, recommend treatments, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
- Serve as a specialized clinical resource to patients, families, and staff
- Identify opportunities for staff development and provide formal and informal training
- Stay current on specialty developments and integrate findings into practice, policies, and procedures
- Communicate with physicians, patients, families, external health care contacts, community providers, agencies, and clergy
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patients and families through changes in health status
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in nursing, healthcare or related field
- Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
- BLS certification is required
- Requires current certification in specialty area of practice such as wound/ostomy care, diabetic care, or pain management
- Strong knowledge of specialty area
- 2-3 years of experience in the clinical area of specialty
- Critical thinking skills to assess patient needs and opportunities for staff education
- Effective verbal and written communication and education skills
- Good organizational and facilitation capabilities
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Employees working for Banner Home Care/Hospice must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment
- Master’s degree in nursing preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
