About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Room patients, obtain vital signs, review charts, administer injections, and perform administrative responsibilities
- Support clinic flow and provide coverage during PTO or sick-call requests
- Float to Building 2, infusion, and North Campus as needed to support staffing
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments; record vital signs, symptoms, measurements, chief complaints, and pain scores
- Report changes in patient condition to clinicians
- Assist providers with examinations and minor in-office procedures, including phlebotomy, ear irrigation, and EKGs
- Prioritize patient flow through the clinical process and act as chaperone when needed
- Coordinate patient care, pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, scheduling, and communication of test results
- Provide clerical support, maintain complete medical records, and supply billing information
- Clean and disinfect equipment, examination rooms, and storage areas; perform basic equipment maintenance
- Order supplies, stock patient-care areas, and manage medication-related tasks
- Complete required onboarding, orientation, and simulation training
- Work under direct provider supervision and interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external healthcare contacts
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations
- Active Medical Assistant Certification required
- Certification or additional training must meet Meaningful Use requirements
- BLS certification required
- Active certification such as RMA, CMA, CCMA, or NCMA, with proof of current membership in the specified certifying organization
- Strong computer skills, including ability to work with medical software
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively and in an organized fashion
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and throughout employment for specified behavioral-health settings serving children
- Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire for specified behavioral-health settings
- Experience with office medical procedures and treatments, insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
