About the role

  • Recommend additions or modifications to referring orders
  • Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
  • Provide safe skilled treatment based on patients' physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational, and age-specific needs
  • Assess treatment effectiveness and modify plans of care as indicated
  • Involve patients and families/caregivers in treatment and decision-making
  • Provide education to physicians, nurses, patients, families/caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Document evaluations, treatment, progress, and goals according to departmental and regulatory standards
  • Communicate patient information, treatment results, and progress to physicians, nurses, patients, families/caregivers, coworkers, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Contact physicians for routine or difficult problem solving
  • Adapt assignments to caseload, scheduling, and staffing needs
  • Assist in other patient care areas and accept responsibility for patient care needs
  • Direct and delegate personnel, including COTAs, therapy technicians, and students
  • Participate in training and orientation of new personnel
  • Ensure personnel competency before delegating tasks
  • Participate in department and facility process improvements
  • Meet departmental productivity standards
  • Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, external healthcare institutions, community providers, agencies, and physician offices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have successfully completed the academic requirements of an educational program in occupational therapy approved by the appropriate governing board
  • Must possess a current Occupational Therapy license from the State of practice
  • Current license from state of practice
  • BLS certification required
  • Ability to become proficient with computer software applications commonly used in an automated patient care environment
  • Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of employment
  • Clinical competency, experience, training, and education required to perform the job
  • Commitment to working every other weekend, or every weekend with weekday flexibility, for full-time scheduling
  • Training schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm for the first 30-90 days
