About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care for patients
  • Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs
  • Review patient history, physical examinations, diagnostic and laboratory data
  • Report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
  • Formulate and revise patient-specific plans of care and discharge plans
  • Implement care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision
  • Provide care based on physician orders, nursing plans, policies, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Promote continuity of care through accurate communication with caregivers
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching
  • Document assessments, interventions, patient responses and physician orders in patient records
  • Participate in research activities, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting and mentoring
  • Contribute to nursing quality indicators and patient outcomes
  • Supervise staff and department workflow in some roles
  • Collaborate with staff, physicians, patients, families, external healthcare contacts and clergy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required upon hire
  • PALS certification required upon hire
  • Minimum of 12 months of Emergency Department Registered Nurse work experience within the last year and a half
  • Minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting for Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions
  • Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
  • Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area through annual validations
  • Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment required
  • Completion of post-offer drug screen required
  • Completion of post-offer background check, including employment, criminal and education checks, required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Professional certification preferred
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred
