About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Transition new graduate nurses into competent professional nurses through Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience
  • Float to Med/Surg, PCU, and Outpatient Observation at Banner University Medical Center Tucson and South campuses
  • Work night shifts, generally three 12-hour shifts including weekend and holiday rotations
  • Participate in clinical experiences with a preceptor
  • Complete simulation-center training, competency and skills assessments, Cerner orientation, patient-care skills labs, and e-learning modules
  • Assess patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge-planning needs
  • Formulate, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized plans of care
  • Provide direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare-team activities
  • Review diagnostic and laboratory data and report abnormal results
  • Document nursing assessments, interventions, evaluations, physician orders, and patient responses
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, physicians, patients, families, caregivers, clergy, and external healthcare contacts
  • Participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting, mentoring, and nursing quality improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • BSN preferred; open to ADN at select locations
  • Current BLS card through American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI, or ability to obtain certification before a start date
  • No more than 12 months of RN experience
  • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure
  • Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
  • Must maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations
  • Experience in the clinical area is desired
  • Professional certification preferred
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred
