About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care for pediatric intensive care patients
Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs
Review patient history, diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results
Formulate and revise individualized plans of care and discharge plans
Provide direct patient care and coordinate, delegate and supervise healthcare team activities
Provide care based on physician orders, nursing plans, policies, standards and regulatory requirements
Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching
Document assessments, interventions, physician orders and patient responses in patient records
Participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting and mentoring
Contribute to nursing quality indicators and patient outcomes
Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, external healthcare contacts and clergy
May supervise staff and departmental workflow

Requirements

What you’ll need

Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
BLS certification required
Qualified candidates must have RN PICU experience
Minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting for Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions
Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area through annual validations
Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen and background check is required
Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
Professional certification preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
Additional related education and/or experience preferred
