About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for assigned patients
- Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge-planning needs
- Review patient histories, diagnostics, laboratory data, and abnormal results with physicians and caregivers
- Formulate, initiate, review, and revise individualized plans of care and discharge plans
- Provide direct patient care and coordinate, delegate, and supervise health care team activities
- Promote continuity of care through accurate communication with other caregivers
- Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching and assess progress toward goals
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete patient-record documentation
- Provide evidence-based care and participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting, and mentoring
- Support improvements in nursing quality indicators and patient outcomes
- Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, external providers, agencies, and clergy
- Support multiple hospital units, including Progressive Care, Med/Surg, and Outpatient Observation, across Banner University Medical Center Tucson and South Tucson campuses
- Work a 3x12-hour day schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM with weekend rotations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
- BLS certification required
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
- Experience, training, and education needed to perform the job must be demonstrated throughout the interview process
- Clinical performance competencies appropriate to the work area must be maintained through annual validations
- Experience in the clinical area applied for is desired
- Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require at least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting, including acute care experience within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Professional certification preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
