About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for Progressive Care Unit patients
  • Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge-planning needs
  • Review patient history, diagnostic and laboratory data, and report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers
  • Formulate and revise individualized plans of care and discharge plans with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Provide direct patient care and coordinate, delegate, and supervise healthcare team activities
  • Communicate patient status accurately and completely to other caregivers
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching and revise care plans as needed
  • Document assessments, interventions, physician orders, evaluations, and patient responses in medical records
  • Provide evidence-based care and participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting, and mentoring
  • Contribute to nursing quality indicators and patient outcomes
  • Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, external healthcare contacts, and clergy
  • May supervise department staff and workflow

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 18 months of RN work experience
  • Minimum of 12 months of recent work experience on a Progressive Care Unit within the last year and a half
  • Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
  • BLS certification required
  • BLS and ACLS required upon hire for RNs on PCUs
  • Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
  • Must maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations
  • Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen, and background check required
  • Orientation requires a full-time, week-long commitment with availability for virtual and in-person training classes during the first week
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Professional certification preferred
