About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive and support the design, coordination, and monitoring of standardized professional practices throughout the health system
- Ensure consistent, high-quality clinical outcomes and superior service delivery
- Use research and evidence to create and implement strategies that strengthen the clinical professional workforce, clinical practices, and clinical product
- Facilitate activities supporting Magnet recognition across the system
- Serve as the primary advisor to senior management on professional practice matters
- Develop, implement, oversee, and evaluate organizational programs and strategic objectives
- Analyze performance data, prepare reports, and make recommendations to senior leadership
- Oversee Shared Professional Nursing Governance structures at unit, department, facility, market, and system levels
- Direct, supervise, and evaluate staff and managers; support professional growth and continuous quality improvement
- Oversee professional practice across the system and represent Banner Health internally and externally
- Build relationships with stakeholders and organizations; lead integration and innovation efforts
- Develop and apply organizational policies, procedures, practices, and internal controls
- Plan CNE events in accordance with ANA and ANCC requirements
- Develop and oversee department budgets; negotiate vendor contracts and manage expenditures
- Communicate department vision and lead or facilitate task forces, teams, and councils
- Prepare, analyze, and present reports and recommendations to senior leadership
- Increase the number of Banner hospitals and clinics meeting or exceeding ANCC Magnet/Pathways Nursing Excellence designations
- Develop and enhance conceptual models for professional nursing practice with system nursing leadership
- Integrate and advance nursing clinical performance and evidence-based practice consistent with CMS, TJC, NDNQI, ANCC Magnet & Pathways, and State Boards of Nursing standards
- Design, plan, implement, and evaluate clinical excellence initiatives affecting bedside care and nursing practice
- Develop nursing inquiry, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, nursing research, knowledge translation, and peer review activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent level of education and experience
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible managerial experience
- Minimum of two years of management-level experience within a healthcare system setting or large multi-operational, complex corporate environment
- Expert-level working knowledge of principles, practices, and operations in the assigned or related area
- Applicable certifications and/or licensures may be required depending on the assigned area of responsibility, including RN, MD or DO, and other listed professional certifications/licensures
- Expert-level knowledge and awareness of the area of expertise
- Proven track record of driving successful performance outcomes and accomplishing organizational goals
- Business acumen and direct leadership experience in budget and financial plan management, stakeholder partnerships, problem-solving, persuasion, best-practice evaluation, strategic initiatives, mentoring/coaching, and organizational communication
- Excellent human relations, organizational, and communication skills
- Passion for continuously improving and providing high-quality care and service excellence
