About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Achieve profitable and sustainable growth within the assigned market and sales territory
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow Barentz’ market presence and gross profit
  • Identify supplier partnership opportunities based on customer needs and maintain them in the Opportunity Pipeline system
  • Improve customer service through unique and new service initiatives
  • Deliver agreed yearly sales and margin growth results
  • Present product value propositions to existing and prospective customers
  • Provide technical support and expertise during the sales process
  • Cold call and prospect for new customers using appropriate sales techniques
  • Secure virtual and in-person meetings with purchasing, R&D, sales, and marketing stakeholders
  • Submit pre-call plans to sales and product leadership
  • Move prospects through the Barentz sales process to secure new business
  • Diversify the product sales portfolio through new projects and product sourcing
  • Report territory sales numbers monthly to sales management
  • Enter and maintain CRM data, including visit reports, projects, opportunities, and price quotes
  • Provide regular forecast updates using available forecasting tools
  • Provide market intelligence on trends, competitors, pricing, and industry information
  • Assist with Principal business relationship management
  • Participate in regular one-to-one meetings with the supervisor
  • Collaborate with Account Managers across the organization
  • Attend and recommend industry trade shows and events
  • Troubleshoot customer complaints with quality personnel and customers
  • Work with technical personnel and customers to identify suitable products
  • Ensure adherence to facility requirements, certifications, and designations
  • Support continuous improvement of processes and systems and share best practices
  • Use Barentz systems including BRM, Vizion, Chempax, Datacor, and SharePoint
  • Lead by example in accordance with Barentz’ purpose, strategies, values, and fundamentals
  • Participate in ongoing growth and personal development opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, etc. (required), or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Master’s degree in Chemistry or other Sciences preferred, or combination of Bachelor’s degree and relative experience
  • Minimum 15 years of sales experience with proven ability to expand profitability of a sales territory and exceed targets within the industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a team of remote direct reports
  • Experience using industry-related technologies and equipment
  • Thorough understanding of the industry in the assigned region, with established supplier relationships
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience developing and implementing innovative sales strategies
  • Strong ability to commercialize technical aspects of products and convey these to customers
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
  • Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability
  • Microsoft Office knowledge, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional organizational, presentation, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong calculation, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English; a second language is an asset
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments for self and others
  • Professional Sales, Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and Quality Systems training desired
