About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform electrical design, technical analysis and/or resolution of engineering problems considering manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation
Design or alter highly complex electrical equipment
Test and debug highly complex equipment to isolate defects
Prepare layouts using CAD tools
Evaluate highly complex designs and make engineering changes
Evaluate new parts
Prepare schematics, detailed drawings, and bills of material (BOM)
Provide expertise and support to manufacturing and assembly teams
Manage and maintain project files
Travel to customer sites to provide expertise and technical assistance to field teams
Lead, coach, or mentor less experienced team members
May act as a supervisor to the team
May lead an engineering project team
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
Typically 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering
Must be able to perform all level 4 duties competently
Core power electronics skills: circuit theory and analysis; high-speed digital circuit design; mixed signal/analog circuit design; semiconductor devices; schematics and PCB layouts; circuit simulations and analysis; prototype circuit testing and debugging; microcontroller and DSP interfacing and programming; FPGA programming and implementation; modern and classical control theory; instrumentation for PCB and power electronic component validation
Knowledge of EMC/EMI compliance and CE, UL or CSA standards
Experience with power electronics
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and mechanical assembly layouts
Advanced knowledge of CAD and engineering systems
Strong logical and reasoning abilities
Problem-solving ability
Advanced knowledge of manufacturing methods, electrical design and project management
Verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a customer’s facility and manage that relationship
Ability to work with senior leadership and offer solutions
Leadership skills
Ability to correctly wear and use required PPE in the manufacturing area
Regular domestic and/or global travel
