About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and develop a team of Project Accountants
  • Ensure financial integrity of data, including revenue recognition, project forecasting, billing, collections and contract administration
  • Lead monthly team project review meetings
  • Provide reports on project accounts receivable and cash, risks and opportunities, and WIP analysis
  • Manage the regional month-end closing process
  • Oversee project reviews, financial oversight, time and expenses, invoice reviews, revenue/cost recognition, project reserves and forecast variances
  • Communicate significant project financial matters to Regional and Design Group Finance leadership
  • Develop and maintain standards for team performance and capacity
  • Collaborate to balance workloads across the firm
  • Establish regular communication with Project Accountants through email updates, presentations and the Finance Communities of Practice webpage
  • Enhance and maintain standardized training modules for Project Accountant roles
  • Assist in developing career paths and guide the Project Accounting team
  • Train new Project Accountants
  • Improve and support standardized project financial training and onboarding for new Project Managers
  • Liaise between Finance and IT to prioritize and fulfill financial system needs
  • Establish requirements for new financial system development
  • Help standardize financial processes across regions and practices
  • Collaborate with Back-Office Accounting on cash, A/R, A/P and month-end close
  • Support the Client Trust team on project financials
  • Provide year-end financial audit support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8-14 years of relevant financial or accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration strongly preferred but not required based on work experience
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • Knowledge of financial practices, principles, processes and systems, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with teams
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to support remote teams 10-15%
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Roseville, CA area
