About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide field-level support to physicians and other clinical professionals for BD’s Interventional Surgery division
  • Execute surgical case support and professional training plans to help achieve annual sales targets
  • Support BD’s Infection Prevention and Biosurgery products with physicians, clinicians, materials management and key decision makers
  • Coordinate logistics, timing, duration, strategy and execution of customer training and technical support for clinical cases
  • Prioritize targeted customers, cases and training events with sales management
  • Support development of regional physician proctors and centers of excellence
  • Conduct training and in-servicing for hospital surgery staff and support personnel
  • Support regional marketing events, conventions, symposia and physician training seminars
  • Complete paperwork, maintain account records, use the sales funnel, and set goals and target accounts
  • Make sales calls and surgeon contacts, including a minimum of three operating rooms and four surgeon contacts per day
  • Maintain product knowledge, promotional tools, equipment, company car and expense budget
  • Plan sales calls and organize time for effective territory coverage
  • Maintain relationships with District Managers, Territory Managers and customers
  • Perform special projects and other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 0-2 years general sales experience preferred
  • Experience working in a team environment, particularly with sales people
  • Ability to work in an operating room environment
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, communication, organizational and planning skills
  • Good judgment and maturity
  • Willing to relocate to fill an open Territory Manager position
  • Ability to travel 80%, including overnight travel
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with 3 years of consecutive driving history and meet BD’s auto safety standards
  • Must be able to meet and maintain customer/medical facility access requirements
  • Understand a needs analysis approach to sales, the product buyer concept, and contract administration
  • Understand principles of group purchasing, including research, formulating and recommending a proposal
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss products in relation to the human body
  • Familiarity with medical and surgical terminology
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers
  • Must live in assigned region
