About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Attend to service needs of BD Advanced Diagnostics customers within the assigned geographic territory and nationally as needed
- Respond to customer needs and perform installations, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs
- Use electronic and computer skills, tools, test equipment, and schematic diagrams to ensure instruments meet specifications
- Service laboratory systems including Kiestra, Microbiology, Molecular, and LC/MS systems
- Collaborate across service and support teams to drive field-service revenue through billable offerings
- Communicate work performed and provide follow-up plans
- Proactively schedule and complete system upgrades with customers
- Report and document customer complaints in appropriate systems for resolution and investigation
- Maintain spare-parts inventory, company-issued vehicle, and assigned equipment
- Use the company credit card according to business guidelines
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled travel, including overnight stays and occasional national travel
- Participate in weekend/holiday on-call rotation approximately every 6 weeks
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Work remotely in a field-based role without direct supervision
- Support customers during PR 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Monday–Friday shift
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical or related disciplines OR 10+ years of relevant experience in troubleshooting and/or repair of complex systems
- Understanding of electronics, electro-mechanical devices (Mechatronics), PLCs, and pneumatics
- Intermediate knowledge of information systems networking architecture design and setup
- Intermediate understanding of computer software operating systems
- Ability to communicate with customer IT personnel and lab leadership
- Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history
- Real ID required
- Availability for flexible hours, up to 50% travel outside the home geographic area, and on-call support
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs frequently and 70 lbs infrequently; push/pull materials up to 100 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and perform physical tasks for up to 8–10 hours
- Ability to meet company PPE standards
- Ability to participate in vendor credentialing programs and maintain customer-facility access
- Preferred: expertise in robotics
- Preferred: experience with Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Mass Spec (MS) instrumentation
- Preferred: knowledge of Lab Information Systems (LIS) and database management
- A+, Microsoft, or Cisco accreditation advantageous
- Understanding of basic computer security concepts and standard processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to meet BD auto safety standards
- Ability to pass respirator fit testing and annual spirometry if required
