About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide remote and on-site technical support for BD automated dispensing systems across the assigned region
- Respond to, evaluate, prioritize, and resolve work orders within service-level expectations
- Diagnose and repair proprietary hardware and software components with full case ownership
- Troubleshoot complex issues and escalate to Senior or Lead Field Service Engineers as needed
- Support government accounts requiring eligibility for a CAC
- Execute preventive maintenance programs
- Perform installations, in-servicing, repairs, calibrations, and general technical support
- Maintain accurate spare-parts inventory
- Maintain company-issued vehicle, tools, and equipment
- Build positive customer relationships through professional communication and timely support
- Document service activities, expenses, and time logs using approved tools
- Partner with Sales and Implementation teams on deployments and customer experience
- Follow complaint-handling and Medical Device Reporting procedures
- Ensure service documentation meets regulatory and corporate requirements
- Participate in technical training and development programs
- Support escalations, advanced troubleshooting, and case resolution
- Contribute to preventive service culture through shared insights and proactive support
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–3 years of combined hardware, software, and IT support experience
- Associate degree in a related field or 3+ years of Field Service or Technical Support experience
- Medical or electromechanical device repair experience required
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, customer service, and documentation abilities
- Eligibility for access to Local, State, and/or Federal facilities may be required, including background investigations and identification credentials or security badges
- 24×7 on-call service experience preferred
- CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to disassemble/reassemble complex systems
- Proficiency with Windows OS, networking, and diagnostic instruments
- Ability to operate powered and manual hand tools
- Ability to lift 85 lbs frequently and 115 lbs occasionally, including overhead lifts
- Ability to climb, kneel, crawl, reach, grasp, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements
- Ability to travel as required, including daily car travel and occasional air travel and overnight stays
- Shift of 3 PM to midnight or 4 PM to 1 AM, with on-call time
