About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install, service, maintain and implement field corrective actions for BD Life Sciences equipment at customer clinical and research laboratories
  • Provide service, preventive maintenance, modifications and installations with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshoot system failures and perform timely, effective on-site repairs
  • Manage company assets including cell phone, computer, tablet, tools and inventory parts
  • Establish and foster positive business relationships with customers and peers
  • Record time worked, training and expense reports
  • Provide customers with ongoing feedback regarding instrument repair and status
  • Interface with Technical Support to provide high-level customer support
  • Work with district team leads and dispatch to schedule and support the customer base
  • Report to the District Service Manager and complete formal instrument training and field-based on-the-job training for BD product certification
  • Comply with Quality, GMP, ISO, safety and company travel policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in electrical, mechanical or similar engineering degree
  • Computer networking and computer science knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use computer-based tools for reports, email and general communication
  • Ability to work individually and in a team setting
  • Positive customer, peer and support-personnel interaction
  • Logical and methodical approach
  • Willingness and ability to work different shifts, on-call, nights and weekends
  • Understanding of basic computer security concepts and best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history and compliance with BD's auto safety standards
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time outside the home geographic area
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 70 lbs infrequently
  • Ability to stand, bend and stoop for prolonged periods, up to 10 hours
  • Ability to push/pull materials up to 100 lbs
  • Adherence to required PPE standards and guidelines
  • Biomed program preferred
  • Equivalent military training acceptable
