  • Oversee and manage the payroll team through a centralized service delivery model
  • Drive the payroll function toward a forward-thinking and proactive operating model
  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies, best practices, and technological advancements
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, auditors, and local and national government agencies
  • Oversee successful multi-state payroll operations for the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with service delivery teams to optimize customer solutions and ensure accurate, complete, compliant payroll services
  • Partner with outsourced offshore teams and assist with complex payroll issues
  • Influence, persuade, and negotiate with key stakeholders
  • Prepare, communicate, and educate client groups and teams on payroll policy and practice changes
  • Consult with business leaders and regional partner resource heads to establish payroll approaches and programs
  • Ensure North American associates are paid accurately and on time, with statutory deductions and returns filed on schedule
  • Oversee payroll processing, payroll tax reporting, payroll accounting, record retention, and process improvements
  • Advise internal departments on North American payroll compliance, taxes, withholding, benefits, labor laws, and payroll responsibilities
  • Support optimization of payroll team structure and standardization of reports, documents, and processes
  • Ensure associates and outsourced teams follow legal and operational compliance requirements
  • Plan, document, and deliver new processes in response to new activities or regulations
  • Provide coaching, direction, and leadership support to outsourced team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience running payroll
  • 5+ years’ experience handling multi-entity and multi-country payroll
  • Working knowledge of payroll regulations relating to payroll and tax, including compensable income, fringe benefits, and stock vesting
  • Knowledge of and ability to navigate vendor relationships involving third-party payroll service providers and Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot unique attributes of designated local payrolls
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
  • Ability to communicate effectively with associates at all organizational levels
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
  • Payroll experience with the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico preferred
  • Experience with ADP Global View, Workday, and SAP preferred
