About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a territory base and expand sales of BD infection prevention and biosurgery products
- Attain company-established sales goals within the designated territory budget
- Increase sales in current accounts and establish new accounts
- Support BD products with physicians, clinicians, materials management, and other key decision makers
- Present, educate, and provide in-services on proper product use
- Provide on-site technical support during procedures
- Train physicians and hospital staff on product use
- Maintain current product knowledge and ensure effective product utilization
- Meet territory sales and profitability goals
- Develop prospects and establish new customers
- Inform customers about products, backorders, order status, pricing, policies, and forecasts
- Resolve customer complaints promptly
- Attend customer meetings and tradeshows
- Report market changes, competitive activity, customer credit status, and policy changes to the District Manager and Franchise
- Maintain equipment, advertising, and promotional materials
- Complete paperwork and maintain accurate account records
- Use sales funnels, route plans, and daily written plans to target accounts and cover the territory
- Make at least three OR calls per day and four surgeon contacts per day
- Maintain product, pricing, discount, availability, and competitive knowledge
- Stay within expense budget
- Use selling presentations and objection-handling responses
- Maintain relationships with managers, fellow Territory Managers, and customers
- Maintain the company car
- Use nurses lectures, journal clubs, seminars, resident lectures, hospital displays, and evaluation committee presentations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant sales/marketing experience
- Documentation of successful sales performance
- Ability to work in an operating room environment
- Operating room sales/medical device experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal, oral communication, organizational, and planning skills
- Valid state-issued driver's license with 3 years of consecutive driving history
- Must meet BD's auto safety standards
- Satisfactory criminal background
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers
- Thorough understanding of needs/analysis approach to sales
- Understanding of contract administration and group purchasing
- Must live within assigned region
