About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain relationships with clients in the small and stable business segment by phone or electronically
- Promote business development and client retention
- Develop and implement client growth and retention strategies for a large, high-volume portfolio
- Build a long-term profitable loan portfolio while providing high-quality client service
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for financing and consulting services
- Work as a team to provide outstanding client service and ensure smooth work sharing
- Develop and implement individual and group marketing plans aligned with Virtual Business Center portfolio strategy and goals
- Achieve financial goals related to expected loss rate, profitability, revenue growth and customer retention
- Use credit judgment to ensure loan proposals are high quality, acceptable risk and meet established standards
- Ensure loan proposals meet accepted credit criteria and comply with BDC policies and procedures
- Analyze, negotiate and prepare loan proposals through credit analysis, due diligence and sound account management practices
- Maintain awareness of changes in policies, procedures and processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Business Administration
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a commercial banker
- Proven sales skills and passion for entrepreneurship
- Proven talent in business development and client relationship management
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Recognize the importance of in-person branch attendance to support teamwork, knowledge sharing, and client service excellence
- Ability to identify business opportunities for entrepreneurs who will benefit from BDC's financing and consulting services
- In-depth knowledge of BDC products, services, policies and procedures
- Excellent negotiation skills and a focus on results
- Thorough understanding of the dynamics of small business and underserved markets
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage a high volume of client relationships
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset, depending on location
