About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain relationships with small-business clients to promote business development and client loyalty
  • Develop and implement client growth and retention strategies
  • Build a long-term profitable loan portfolio while providing high-quality client service
  • Identify and develop new financing and consulting business opportunities
  • Collaborate as a team to provide outstanding client service and ensure smooth work sharing
  • Develop and implement individual and group marketing plans aligned with Virtual Business Centre portfolio goals
  • Achieve goals related to expected loss rate, profitability, revenue growth and customer retention
  • Use credit judgment to ensure loan proposals are high quality, acceptable risk and compliant with BDC policies and procedures
  • Analyze, negotiate and prepare loan proposals through credit analysis, due diligence and account management
  • Maintain awareness of changes in policies, procedures and processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Business Administration
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience as a banker
  • Proven sales skills and passion for entrepreneurship
  • Proven talent in business development and client relationship management
  • Ability to make sound credit decisions and thorough understanding of credit policies and practices
  • Ability to identify business opportunities for entrepreneurs who will benefit from BDC's financing and consulting services
  • In-depth knowledge of BDC products, services, policies and procedures
  • Excellent negotiation skills and focus on results
  • Thorough understanding of small business and underserved-market dynamics
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage a high volume of client relationships
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
