About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain relationships with clients in the small and stable business segment by phone or electronically to promote business development and client retention
  • Develop and implement client growth and retention strategies to build a long-term profitable loan portfolio
  • Provide high-quality client service
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for financing and consulting services
  • Work as a team to provide outstanding client service and ensure smooth work sharing
  • Develop and implement individual and group marketing plans consistent with VBC-Connect portfolio strategy and goals
  • Achieve financial goals related to expected loss rate, profitability, revenue growth and customer retention
  • Use credit judgment to ensure loan proposals are high quality, acceptable risk and meet established standards
  • Analyze, negotiate and prepare loan proposals through credit analysis, due diligence and sound account management practices
  • Maintain awareness of changes in policies, procedures and processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Business Administration
  • Proven sales skills and passion for entrepreneurship
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage a high volume of client relationships
  • Talent in business development and client relationship management
  • Ability to make sound credit decisions and a general understanding of credit policies and practices
  • Ability to identify business opportunities for entrepreneurs who will benefit from BDC's unique suite of services
  • Knowledge of BDC products, services, policies and procedures
  • Excellent negotiation skills and a focus on results
  • Team player with a good understanding of the dynamics of small business and underserved markets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent written and spoken communication in English and French
