About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Establish, launch, and lead BECU’s centralized Buy Desk within Strategic Sourcing
  • Build a scalable procurement operating model that simplifies purchasing, strengthens controls, and improves the employee buying experience
  • Lead, coach, and develop the procurement operations team
  • Establish priorities, service standards, performance expectations, and professional growth opportunities
  • Design and implement standardized procurement processes, including requisition intake, purchase order management, guided buying, vendor master governance, workflow approvals, and issue resolution
  • Oversee day-to-day purchasing operations and ensure purchase orders align with vendor agreements, pricing, scope, contractual terms, and funding requirements
  • Develop guided buying practices using preferred vendors, approved catalogs, and established contracts
  • Partner with Strategic Sourcing, Vendor Management, Accounts Payable, Finance, Legal, Risk, Technology, Facilities, and business leaders
  • Lead procurement transformation and change management initiatives, including workflow design, stakeholder engagement, system testing, communications, training, adoption, and process stabilization
  • Develop and monitor procurement performance metrics, vendor and spend analytics, and operational reporting
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for procurement operations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum four years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing operations, strategic sourcing, procure-to-pay, vendor management, or a related discipline
  • At least one year of people leadership, team leadership, or experience coaching, developing, and directing the work of others
  • Knowledge of purchasing processes and procurement governance
  • Experience interpreting vendor agreements, including master service agreements, statements of work, pricing schedules, and service-level requirements
  • Ability to translate contractual and purchasing requirements into accurate operational transactions and controls
  • Experience analyzing procurement, vendor, or spend data
  • Experience developing performance measures, identifying operational trends, and translating findings into actionable recommendations
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Candidates must be residents of WA, CA, VA, NC, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC
  • Washington residents within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila must come into headquarters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
