About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead execution of BECU’s API strategy by delivering enterprise APIs and platform capabilities across mobile, web, internal applications, and external partners
Develop and maintain technology roadmaps
Manage engineering and delivery teams
Implement agile practices
Identify innovative technology solutions and lead RFPs, project charters, and business cases
Mentor, guide, and develop engineering teams through coaching, performance conversations, and skill building
Foster quality, agility, continuous learning, and modern software development practices
Lead engineering initiatives and oversee technical requirements
Support continuous delivery teams building scalable, secure APIs in C#/.NET on Azure, using GraphQL for reads and REST for writes
Advance software lifecycle quality, API contracts, versioning, error handling, performance, backward compatibility, and CI/CD automation
Align technology roadmaps and outcomes with business priorities
Participate in governance forums, planning cycles, and initiative reviews
Contribute to operational and financial planning, including infrastructure considerations
Review SOWs and contracts and oversee external vendor partnerships
Promote responsible use of AI-enabled engineering tools and practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
Minimum 3 years of people leader experience
Experience leading technology teams
Minimum 5 years of information technology experience with demonstrated expertise in application design and API-driven or integration-focused architectures
Experience building technology platforms and teams, preferably with modern APIs, microservices, cloud-native services, or integration frameworks
Domain experience with ERP, Infrastructure/Operations, or financial products
Experience with API gateways and API management platforms such as Azure API Management
Expertise in API design, design patterns, development, and lifecycle management, including REST, GraphQL, or event-driven architectures
Experience with API security standards including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
Experience operating APIs in cloud environments, preferably Azure
Experience with observability practices such as Application Insights or OpenTelemetry
Experience in technology fundamentals, design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and product management about requirements, software features, and technical designs
Delivery experience under Agile/Scrum methodology
Working experience with coding standards, change management, incident management, CI/CD, automated testing, cloud-native development, testing, and operations
Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools for API development, automation, and engineering productivity
