About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Determine the selection of materials including castings, forgings and fabrications during design and manufacturing processes
- Specify requirements for welding, non-destructive testing and coatings
- Select materials to meet FTL, customer, client and regulatory body requirements
- Work with the FTL design team to ensure fit-for-purpose and economical solutions
- Write specifications for materials, welding, non-destructive testing, dimensional control and coatings
- Conduct technical supplier audits
- Visit suppliers during manufacturing
- Select suitable inspectors
- Liaise with customers, clients, classification societies and national regulators
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of ten years in a senior position in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of materials used in offshore marine environment
- Very broad experience of manufacturing involving high strength cast, forged and fabricated structures
- Excellent written and presentation skills
- Highly competent in use of Word and Excel
- Degree in materials would be useful but not essential
