About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Bekaert's engineering calculation tools
- Define priorities, milestones, and release plans aligned with business objectives
- Balance operational support of existing tools with long-term digital transformation
- Serve as primary contact between Product, Engineering, IT, Commercial teams, and external partners
- Translate structural engineering principles, design codes, and industry standards into software requirements and technical specifications
- Review, validate, and govern engineering algorithms and calculation methodologies
- Ensure traceability between design codes, engineering rules, and implemented software logic
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and advanced technologies
- Contribute to development using C#, .NET, and related technologies
- Support migration from legacy Excel/VBA solutions to scalable web applications
- Review code quality, maintainability, and performance across development teams
- Drive best practices in software architecture, testing, and documentation
- Lead and coordinate external development partners, freelancers, and engineering specialists
- Gather user feedback to improve the product
- Collaborate with mobile application and digital solution teams on platform integration
- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Define and maintain documentation standards
- Ensure knowledge transfer and reduce dependency on single individuals
- Support incident resolution and troubleshooting of critical business applications
- Drive reporting and visualization through dashboards and analytics tools
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Strong understanding of structural design principles and engineering standards, including Eurocodes, ACI, or equivalent
- Hands-on software development experience with C#, .NET, Python, and modern web application development
- Knowledge of JavaScript, React, Power BI, data visualization tools, and advanced Excel/VBA
- Understanding of calculation engines, numerical methods, simulation tools, and rule-based systems
- Experience at the intersection of engineering and software development
- Ability to lead technical roadmaps and collaborate across cross-functional teams
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
- Communication skills in English
- Ability to balance business, technical, and user requirements in an international environment
