About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and manage technical specifications and fit details throughout sampling stages for assigned product categories
- Create technical specification packages including sketches, measurement specifications, construction details, trim details, and quality standards
- Translate product design and style vision into consistent fit and quality levels with senior technical designers, brand managers, and design teams
- Communicate technical information to suppliers and cross-functional team members
- Build technical specifications, technical illustrations, seam specifications, trim requirements, and block patterns
- Evaluate garments for compliance with measurement, construction, style, and fit intent
- Ensure size and fit consistency within individual brands and adhere to established blocks
- Lead fit sessions with brand managers, design teams, and buying partners
- Maintain target calendar dates and partner with cross-functional and vendor teams to achieve on-time delivery
- Generate and analyze sample status and sales reports to identify development issues
- Monitor sample follow-up and tracking to maintain delivery dates
- Perform store audits to ensure consistent quality and fit and report production issues
- Adjust and create patterns, including block pattern development and grading
- Recommend improvements to specifications, patterns, construction, techniques, fit, balance, and garment quality
- Maintain accurate data in PLM
- Ensure products meet quality and safety standards
- Participate in department and company-wide special projects
- Manage and develop assistant and/or associate technical designers as business needs dictate
- Support a learning culture and collaborative team environment
- Link the team's work to the company's mission, vision, values, goals, and strategies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Pattern Making, Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related program
- 5+ years of technical design, pattern making, or related experience
- Flat pattern knowledge
- Pattern manipulation skills
- Draping skills
- Grading skills
- Strong computer skills
- Knowledge of web-based product development programs
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator
- Proficiency with Windows applications
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
