About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own prioritization, roadmap, and product direction for Benchling’s core infrastructure teams
  • Convert engineering pain, customer requests, and business priorities into an outcome-focused roadmap
  • Conduct customer discovery with engineering teams and external customers regarding scale, performance, and technical direction
  • Make and communicate prioritization and trade-off decisions to engineering and executive stakeholders
  • Build business cases for infrastructure investments
  • Define product requirements and problem context without dictating technical designs
  • Coordinate infrastructure priorities and dependent-team needs across organizations
  • Define metrics covering reliability, cost, adoption, and developer time saved
  • Partner with Engineering, Finance, Security, and Procurement on cloud economics and strategic infrastructure investments
  • Forecast spend, optimize costs, manage commitments and credits, evaluate incentive programs, track vendor roadmaps, and evaluate new capabilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of product management experience
  • Direct exposure to infrastructure, platform, or developer-facing systems
  • Track record of making prioritization decisions under pressure
  • Ability to translate technical constraints into business narratives and business priorities into technical requirements
  • Strong communication skills
  • Technical fluency sufficient to work credibly with engineers
  • Ability to work from the San Francisco office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
  • Ability to complete a brief AI-focused exercise or discussion during the interview process
