About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive new business within the assigned territory
- Identify and engage small biotech and life sciences companies
- Own the full sales cycle from identifying and prospecting new accounts to closing deals
- Proactively generate pipeline through outbound outreach, events, and creative prospecting strategies
- Connect with bench scientists and business stakeholders
- Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts within +/- 10% of goal
- Apply Benchling's value framework to tailor presentations and proposals
- Run discovery, build business cases, engage stakeholders, navigate buying processes, and close agreements
- Manage relationships across scientific, technical, and business personas
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer science
- Apply MEDDICC, Command of the Message, 3 Why's, and Champion Building methodologies
- Keep Salesforce accurate and up to date
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–3 years of experience as a Sales Development Representative, or 1–2 years of full-cycle sales experience
- SaaS or technology environment experience ideally
- Life science background required: bachelor's degree in a life science discipline or direct experience selling into pharma, biotech, or life science organizations
- Experience prospecting, building pipeline, and managing a sales cycle from open to close
- Ability to build a business case and influence purchasing decisions across scientific and business personas
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Self-motivated with a competitive drive to meet and exceed targets
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience running product demos is a plus
- Familiarity with MEDDICC or similar sales methodology is a plus
- Ability to work from the San Francisco office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
- U.S. work authorization status required
