About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver reporting and data analysis that drive day-to-day decisions across sales, marketing, and operations
  • Work directly with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into clear reporting and analysis requirements
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, including data models, DAX calculations, and row-level security where needed
  • Own a portfolio of recurring reports, including development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and updates as business needs change
  • Write and optimize SQL queries against the data warehouse for reporting, ad hoc analysis, and data validation
  • Develop a working understanding of the data warehouse structure and relationships to navigate it independently and flag inconsistencies
  • Partner with data team members to communicate reporting requirements and validate that report and dashboard data is accurate and complete
  • Tell effective stories about business performance and trends through data visualization
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting requests with accurate, timely turnaround
  • Support stakeholders and other data/report consumers across the business

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and report/dashboard development
  • Strong proficiency in SQL with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Postgres), including writing queries to analyze and validate data
  • Proven ability to learn and navigate an existing data environment, reverse engineering data patterns and structures to infer relationships and spot inconsistencies
  • Working knowledge of how data moves through a reporting pipeline
  • Functional understanding of advanced analytics concepts, including statistical or AI-based techniques, and when to apply them
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially explaining data and reporting to non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable owning multiple reports/dashboards independently and prioritizing competing requests
  • Hands-on experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines preferred
  • Experience with advanced statistics, information science, or machine learning preferred
  • Working understanding of Master Data Management techniques and tools preferred
  • Experience with metadata standards and procedures in the publishing industry preferred
  • Experience with ERP tools and processes preferred
  • Experience with project management and implementation of best practices preferred
