About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement strategic plans focused on identifying opportunities, responding to customer issues and needs, prospecting, building relationships, pre-working activities, pilots, exhibits, conferences, and lead follow-up
- Achieve or surpass territory sales goals within expense guidelines
- Develop strategic plans for supplemental, core, and professional development sales and winning business
- Manage territory CRM records for opportunities, contacts, cuts, wins, and losses
- Generate quotes and support proposals, including reviewing and evaluating RFPs
- Demonstrate and present print and digital products in varied settings
- Use competitive knowledge to position and present products
- Utilize consultants, promotions, samples, authors, and management resources
- Provide sales, sampling, and inventory forecasts
- Analyze and communicate technology and market trends to management, editorial, and marketing
- Prospect and meet with new and existing Texas school customers
- Use negotiation skills and closing techniques to win business
- Coordinate product training with customers and professional development staff
- Plan and implement Invitationals and presentations
- Attend selected local, national, and regional exhibits
- Follow up on leads from online ads, advertisements, exhibits, and conferences
- Review and provide feedback on marketing materials
- Participate in weekly sales team conference calls
- Perform general administrative activities and other assigned projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English or related
- Three to five years of sales experience working for a high-volume, fast-paced company
- Quick learner, able to multi-task
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills
- Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills
- Professional orientation and demeanor, able to handle and respond to external requests in a timely and courteous manner
- Proven ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work calmly under pressure with flexibility and work long hours
- Educational publishing experience a plus, but not required
